A Rhode Island man has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for posing as an immigration lawyer and claiming to be a federal immigration agent. Judge Mary Lisi also ordered the 45-year-old Villegas to pay $8,700 in restitution to two people he defrauded when posing as a lawyer. Prosecutors say Villegas told clients he was licensed to practice law in New York, and showed them forged court documents. When his victims complained, he claimed to be an immigration agent and threatened to arrest them. (boston globe)
