Wyclef Jean’s Memoirs of an Immigrant and the Lawsuit

December 2, 2010 § Leave a comment

Things just haven’t been going so well for Wyclef Jean lately. Earlier this year, the former Fugees member had to back out of his bid to become the president of Haiti, he’s been hospitalized due to stress and fatigue issues, and now the singer is facing a lawsuit that alleges he misappropriated some music for his 2007 album Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant. TMZ reports that ’90s rap group Blahzay Blahzay have filed a suit against Jean asking for $2 million over the unaccredited use of their single “Danger.” The song was sampled on Jean’s Carnival Vol. II track “Welcome to the East.” (Exclaim!)
