Another war vet facing deportation

November 14, 2010 § Leave a comment

Dardar Paye, who served in the U.S. military as a soldier in war-torn Kosovo, is now facing deportation from the same country he vowed to defend. The Maplewood resident who immigrated from Liberia as a teenager has been labeled by the U.S. a “foreign-born person” with a criminal record. Paye served two stints in prison for weapons and drug possession offenses, and is now, according to The Star-Ledger, “caught up in a controversial section of a 1996 immigration law that expands the list of crimes for which non-citizens can be deported.”
