times colonist: Actor Randy Quaid was expected to be released Wednesday after being declared eligible to proceed with his refugee claim, his lawyer said. The actor — who says he is seeking asylum in Canada because he fears a shadowy group that is killing Hollywood celebrities — has posted a $10,000 bond, after being held for six days at an airport immigration holding facility in Vancouver. His wife, Evi, was about to enter a Canadian Border Services Agency hearing on her status in the case, and could be also released Wednesday. Lawyer Catherine Sas said that while processing Evi’s claim, it was determined that Evi’s father was born in Canada, which, because of changes to the Canadian Immigration Citizenship laws, means she could gain Canadian citizenship.
