Ken Burns talks Baseball and Immigration

“Just as baseball mirrors the larger America and immigration is one of the subjects, at first you had a game invented by descendants of Englishmen in America, the next wave was Irish, then German, then Central and Southern European, then African-American, then Latino and Asian; it’s just mirroring the larger immigration patterns of the U.S. It’s great; they brought an electrifying play to the game. We do a section on the Dominican Republic and how they came up in the major leagues. We also got a very rare interview with Ichiro [Suzuki] which is very revealing.”
